David McClure Delbridge is an American musician, composer, and record producer whose electronic rock music has been called “cinematic industrial” in style, drawing comparisons with Vangelis (Blade Runner) and Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). A self-described audio nerd, David produces music in high-resolution surround sound.
David studied computer science at the Pennsylvania State University, and music business & technology at the Berklee College of Music. He is a multi-instrumentalist and DIY musician – he writes, produces and markets music through his own “Resort Records” label. He designed and built “The Resort,” a state-of-the-art surround recording studio in his Lake Tahoe home.
David learned to play the piano at age 6, but didn’t acquire the music ‘bug’ for another ten years when, in 1981, electronic synthesizers and British New Wave music caught his attention. At the same time, MIDI (the Musical Instrument Digital Interface) and affordable multitrack tape recorders enabled a new generation of one-man-bands and home recording studios. Too shy for the stage, David embraced the isolation and creative freedom of home recording. He began collecting instruments and recording equipment.
In the years that followed, David launched multiple IT startups that mostly sidelined his musical ambitions. In his spare time, he developed the Orpheus MIDI Sequencer for IBM PCs (a music composition program) and composed original music for regional television programs and advertisements. In 1996, he experienced brief success as techno artist, Rigel 7. However, it was his website, not his music, that earned accolades, and sparked yet another tech startup – an Internet design & hosting company that would demand his attention for twenty years.
In 2016, David retired his Internet hosting company to pursue music full-time, fulfilling a lifelong dream. His debut eponymous single, “Heat Death,” was released on December 31st, 2021.
David lives in the Sierra Mountains at Lake Tahoe. When he’s not in the studio, he’s usually tree skiing with his maniacal Siberian Husky, Kane.
